Established in 1979, Wild Ones is a national nonprofit organization that promotes native landscapes through education, advocacy, and collaborative action. With over 135 chapters across the U.S., Wild Ones is empowering individuals and communities to create sustainable landscapes that support pollinators, wildlife, and climate resilience.

Together, we are building a knowledgeable, hands-on, and supportive community that inspires change through shared core values:
-Respect is at the heart of Wild Ones. We have respect for each other, for nature and for the earth.
-We’re an inclusive community. Diverse voices and backgrounds make us stronger. That’s why we welcome everyone to join us.
-We provide evidence-based information, because the seeds of change spread most efficiently when grounded in data. We monitor and share the latest evidence-informed strategies.
-We’re action and growth oriented. Just dig in! We learn, grow, and share our knowledge.

Dwindling biodiversity is a threat to the foundation of life on earth. In the last century alone, we’ve lost millions of acres of diverse ecosystems to urbanization. Native plants help protect and restore biodiversity, improve air and water quality and provide wildlife with food and shelter. Our vision is native plants and natural landscapes in every community.

Wild Ones is actively seeking volunteers to support efforts across the organization. Including broad-scale national initiatives to hands-on work within local chapters. Whether volunteers are interested in helping launch new chapters, taking on a leadership role, or lending a hand with special projects or workdays, there are many meaningful ways to get involved.

Volunteer opportunities include:
-Supporting local habitat restoration and native garden projects
-Assisting with chapter-led plant sales and community outreach events
-Helping with educational programs and youth activities
-Participating in community science efforts like monarch and pollinator monitoring
-Advocating for local ordinances that support natural landscapes
-Writing blog posts or contributing to the Wild Ones Journal
-Taking on chapter leadership roles to form new chapters or strengthen existing ones
