Southerners On New Ground (SONG) is a queer-led organization building a thriving LGBTQ liberation movement across the U.S. South, rooted in racial and economic justice, and known for campaigns such as Black Mama’s Bail Out and sanctuary efforts.

Volunteer members of SONG mobilize in Southern states to fundraise and post bail for Black LGBTQ people in jail (especially through the annual Black Mamas Bail Out action), host People’s Potlucks and political education sessions that strengthen queer community networks, organize direct actions and cultural events confronting immigrant detention and discriminatory laws, and provide rapid-response support to LGBTQ individuals facing crises in hostile environments.
