Welcome to Economics for Everyone!
Economics for Everyone is a group based in Olympia, Washington that seeks to address issues of economic literacy through free educational workshops and presentations relating to current events and ongoing struggles. Economics for Everyone creates a community learning space through regular public events and discussions. Economics for Everyone aims to create a public dialogue on inequality and the crises of capitalism. Issues of specific importance to the group include examinations of power relations under capitalism, which include but are not limited to racism, sexism, heterosexism, and climate change. These examinations are undertaken with the public in order to contribute to the discussion and implementation of a community that better accounts for notions of feminism, racial justice, economic justice, queer liberation, expanding the commons, full immigrant rights, housing justice, access to education for all, production for human need, mutual aid, childcare, meaningful work, global equality, and environmental justice.

Economics for Everyone began as a series of on- and off-site workshops during Occupy Olympia. From this beginning, Economics for Everyone grew into its current iteration in the fall of 2013, and its members have grown to include students, professors, community members, radicals, and various organizers. Economics for Everyone is ever developing and expanding in order to better address the economic issues and global struggles that affect our daily lives.

Economics for Everyone is coordinated by community members and operates independently of any commercial or institutional funding. We have been assisted in our mission to create a community educational space by the existing operations in downtown Olympia. Most of all, Economics for Everyone relies on the participation of community members who attend our events in the spirit of coming together to learn, critique, and move towards a more equitable future. We encourage and rely on the various perspectives of attendees to further the dialogue and seek to create multicultural, intergenerational space where people can come together to learn about and critique capitalism.
